I predicted that blogs were the Next Big Thing beyond conventional web sites.
I proclaimed that blogs could be more than "plogs" (personal blogs, blah blah blah blogs, online diaries).
I proclaimed that blogs could be interactive business cards, sample portfolios, product showcases, resumes, brochures, etc.
Blogs are more personal, less static, and more interactive than conventional web sites.

If link above fails, or if you prefer to directly enter URLs, just type in News DOT com DOT com, go to upper right navigation bar, select The Net, then go to Digital Media, and under that head look for "Before Applying, Check Out the Blogs" article. (This web site is a great news source, bookmark it.)
This article discusses how employers go to blogs to find real, intimate, first-hand details about a person prior to hiring them for a job. Many companies feel that resumes are not very revealing and interviews are merely games that applicants get good at, and disguise their true selves.
But a blog is much more likey to reveal a person's true interests, communication skills, personality, depth of knowledge, etc.
The reverse is also true: job applicants go to the blogs of employees to discover how happy, creative, innovative, free, enthusiastic, and rewarded the workers at a company seem to be. They feel they can gain a better perspective on the culture and atmosphere of a company by reading the employee blogs.
Microsoft is just one of the companies mentioned that is using blogs for corporate recruitment.
Tip #1: employed bloggers, do not post that you're looking for a new job!
Tip #2: just post intelligently about your career field and industry, and remember that potential employers may be reading your every word!
